The Early College is an innovative magnet school partnership with Gaston College. Students have an opportunity to earn a high school diploma at no cost, two years of 100% transferable college credit in the form of an associate in arts, associate in science, and/or associate in engineering degree.

The Gaston Early College High School continues its commitment to high academic achievement. Once again, our school achieved an A school performance grade from the state.  We are tied for second for having the highest student proficiency rate in all of Gaston County, and we exceeded our academic growth expectations. We also have a 100 percent graduation rate!

We honor and reflect on the contributions and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our schools and central offices are closed Monday, January 19 for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday.

For the 2026–2027 academic year, Gaston County Schools is offering 17 magnet schools and academies for students. Families are encouraged to explore School Choice program options by visiting https://www.gaston.k12.nc.us/academics/magent-schools-and-academy-programs. Applications for Choice and Magnet School programs will be accepted from January 12 through March 6, 2026, with the lottery scheduled for April 2, 2026. Submit your online application here.

Our school has earned an “A” from the state for eight years in a row, and with a 100 percent graduation rate, we’re proud to see our students succeed.

Clubs and Activities

Students can get involved in a variety of clubs that build leadership, teamwork, and school spirit. Popular options include the Fitness Club, Events Club, Esports Club, Beta Club, and Student Council.
